St John's Ambulance County Cadet of the Year
Back
We are so proud of our Wayland Academy pupil, Ruby Shortland who was selected to be St John Ambulance's County Cadet of the Year for Norfolk! Ruby was chosen after a weekend competing at the National Cadet of the Year Competition held at Ingestre Hall near Stafford.
Ruby competed against her peers from Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, and Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire, to be appointed Regional Cadet of the Year, and against Cadets from across England and the Islands to become the National Cadet of the Year.
Ruby took part in team tasks, first aid assessments and interviews in a bid to receive the honour of representing Norfolk for the year.
Ruby was selected to be St John Ambulance's Regional Cadet of the Year for the East of England 2025.
"This is a massive achievement for a very humble Ruby. She absolutely smashed it. Ruby’s dedication, communication skills and kind hearted nature were all contributing factors to her brilliant success over the weekend."
